Assign permission sets and licenses

Updated Nov 7, 2026 Based on Salesforce Data Cloud/Personalization web pages, retrieved 2026-11-07

Before anyone can configure or use Salesforce Personalization, your admin assigns the right permission set licenses (what a user is entitled to) and permission sets (what that user can actually do). This page covers both, for admins and for the marketers who build experiences day to day.

Complete Enable Data 360 and Personalization first — a Data 360 license is a prerequisite for any Personalization access.

Assign licenses and permission sets

  1. Confirm a Data Cloud (Data 360) permission set license and a Salesforce Personalization permission set license are both assigned to the user by your Salesforce admin.
  2. From Setup, open Permission Sets.
  3. Assign Personalization Admin to users who configure and manage Personalization end to end (full create, read, update, delete access).
  4. Assign Personalization User to channel marketers who build and manage personalization experiences without needing data-configuration access.
  5. Assign the Data Cloud Salesforce Connector permission set so the user can access Data 360 (grants the Allows user access Data 360 permission).
  6. Assign Personalization Intelligence User to anyone who needs to install a Pipeline Intelligence dashboard.
  7. Verify access by confirming the assigned user can open Personalization Setup.
