GA4 prerequisites and access

Updated Nov 7, 2026 Based on Salesforce docs updated 2026-08-27

Data Cloud reads GA4 data from Google BigQuery, Google’s cloud data warehouse — GA4 has no direct connector. Before connecting, link your GA4 property to BigQuery export and confirm the Google Cloud access below.

Set up GA4 BigQuery export

  1. In Google Analytics, confirm you have Editor access or above on the GA4 property.
  2. In Google Cloud Console, create or choose a project to receive the export.
  3. Enable the BigQuery API for that project under APIs & Services > Library.
  4. In GA4, go to Admin > Product Links > BigQuery Links and click Link.
  5. Choose the Google Cloud project, a data location, and the data streams to export.
  6. Pick an export frequency — Daily, Streaming, or Fresh Daily (requires Cloud billing).
  7. Review and submit the link to start the export.

Grant Data Cloud access to the BigQuery dataset

  1. In Google Cloud IAM, confirm the GA4 export’s built-in resource identity holds the BigQuery User role.
  2. Identify (or create) the Google Cloud identity Data Cloud will use to read the dataset.
  3. Grant that identity at least BigQuery Data Viewer and BigQuery Job User on the project.
